    Professor Dr. Enri Damanhuri's Biography

Professor Dr. Enri Damanhuri was born on July 12, 1949 in Sumenep. He is the pioneer of the establishment of the Solid Waste Laboratory (now the Solid Waste and B3 Laboratory) in the corner of Sasana Budaya Ganesha ITB (Sabuga ITB). The laboratory is the first and only laboratory and Waste Management Center (PPS) in Indonesia on the scale of a state university. Thanks to the PPS, ITB can manage its own waste and does not depend on the Sanitation Department.
Garbage, an unpopular topic for most people, has become daily food for Dr. Enri Damanhuri. After graduating from the Sanitary Engineering Department (now Environmental Engineering) ITB in 1975 and completing his master's and doctoral education from the University of Paris VII, France in the field of Pollution Chemistry, he has been working as a lecturer in the Environmental Engineering Study Program ITB since 1976. Currently, he is the Chair of the KK (Expert Group) for Air and Waste Management at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, ITB. KK is the spearhead in the development of ITB as a research-based university. Previously, KK Air Management and KK Waste Management run separately. It was only when a regulation was enacted that required each KK to have a minimum of 8 members in 2006, the two KK underwent a merger. In fact, air and waste management are two very different things.
It started by accident that he entered ITB in 1969. His parents wanted him to enter medicine, so he chose the Department of Health Engineering because he thought it was making medical devices. Because he felt he was in the wrong major, he was still trying to take part in the selection in other universities for the first two years at ITB. In his second year at ITB, he even had double lectures at Unpad Pharmacy. It was only after the third year that he was able to enjoy studying in Health Engineering and finally decided to continue to pursue that world.

He has always chosen garbage as his specialty. Because people don't choose trash, so before he left for France to take his master's and doctor's degrees, he thought someone had to fill the void. Mr. Enri became the first doctor in Indonesia to work in the solid waste sector. With Dr. Tri Padmi, his wife who is also a lecturer at Environmental Engineering ITB and a member of the same KK, he founded the Waste Laboratory (now the Solid Waste and B3-ed Laboratory) at ITB, which is the first and only waste laboratory in Indonesia on a university scale . Becoming a lecturer started by accident. The first year after graduating from ITB, he worked as a consultant. His job requires him to frequent campus. Because of that, he idly signed up to be an assistant in several courses. After feeling the joy of teaching, a year later he applied to become a lecturer.
Until now, he has been teaching at ITB for 31 years. Waste Management Technology The ideal waste management is as close as possible to the source. Departing from that concept, Mr. Enri became a pioneer in the establishment of the PPS (Waste Processing Center) ITB located in the corner of Sabuga (Sasana Budaya Ganesha) in 2006.
